Hy-land Projects are designed for children from 3 to 12 years old.
- Each Hy-land Project consists of two or more Kits (A, B, C), Hy-Slide and timber.
- Hy-land Projects are carefully engineered to ensure optimum safety and are type-approved by TUV Rheinland according to EN 1176-1: 2008 for usage on commercial playgrounds. This assumes the Project is assembled, erected, placed and maintained in accordance with the supplied owners manual.
- The owners manual consists of 4 Parts which should be read in conjunction with each other.
- In order to provide you with the most efficient service, it is required that when ordering replacement parts you provide us with the part number and the unique serial numbers of the Kits supplied.
- All constructors and supervisors should read and familiarise themselves with the owners manual before building.
- Installing Part 3 (Assembly). - Do not deviate from these instructions, alter the design or combine products of other suppliers because it can decrease safety.
- Do not attach extra items to any Project.
- The safety zone required to install a Project should be at least 4.00 m around the dimensions of the Project on all sides.
- The construction site surface should be level. Installing your Project on sloping ground can cause it to lean or "rack". This leaning puts additional stress on all connections and joints and in time will cause those connections to loosen and fail.
- Children should not be allowed on the construction site until the project has been completely assembled, installed, anchored and all assembly aids are removed.
- Required tools. Wear safety glasses to protect eyes from flying wood chips when cutting or drilling. Usa of a dust mask and gloves are recommended. Before using the tools, it is important to read the manufacturers safety recommendations.
- To reach higher assembling points use a ladder; do not stand on the platform before finalizing the assembly.
- Also Required: -Tape measure - Pencil - Saw - Spade - Electric drill - Screw driver (Philips head) - sandpaper (80 grit) - Soap (to lubricate screw threads)
- Use an electric drill to drive screws with the provided bits. Wood screws are self-tapping, so no pilot holes are required. Lubricate the threads of the screws with soap to ease installation and minimize breaking.
- In case of dry soft wood or hardwood we recommend to predrill pilot holes
- It is important to make sure that tops of all screws are flush with the surface of the timber and there are no sharp edges. - Do not drive screws too deep as this will damage the timber and cause splintering.
- Never tighten bolts and nuts completely at first. It helps to have some adjustment for bolt alignment while attaching parts together. After everything is square, be sure all bolts are tightened securely and flush to the intended member.
- Provided bolt caps, which cover exposed bolts' heads, must be fastened securely.
- Preparation -The "minimum space" refers to an area extending 2.00 m surface around the Project on all sides and 3.20 m high and must be free of all structures other than the Project itself; fences, overhanging branches, laundry lines, electrical wires, rocks, stumps, roots, other obstacles or tripping hazards.
- The 2.00 m surface around the project within the minimum space is referred to as the "impact area". -Minimum spaces of different playground equipment should not overlap. - Do not plan your Project in the direction of walks or gangways.
- A Hy-slide should not have a southern exposure unless shaded from mid-day and afternoon sun. Unshaded slides facing south can get hot and cause discomfort to bare skin.
- Do not install a Project over concrete, gravel, asphalt, packed earth, or any other hard surface without impact attenuation surfacing of which the Critical Fall height CFH 2 1.50m is tested in accordance with EN 1177:2008.
